A Haircut for the House

Liz and Roger take a stab at the ivy

Chris holds on for her big scene

Another major milestone today—we removed the ivy from the entire house! Chris and I worked with Roger Cook to pull down the ivy that has been growing on the house forever. We were all pleased to see that the cracks in the stucco on the house were not as bad as everyone initially thought; the house did not crumble when we pulled. As you can see from the pics, Chris and I got up pretty high on the ladders.

The house looks much bigger now. The next step is too clean the outside, although with all the rain we are having that should not be too much of a problem.

Chris and I are continuing to live upstairs. It is a little bit dusty, but Tom Silva's crew keeps it to a minimum and Chris has been doing a great job keeping it clean otherwise (Thanks Chris!!!). We call our "kitchen"  This Old Bistro, and when friends and family come over they get a nice laugh out of it.  So we are holding out for now and continuing to squat in our own home. They are doing the framework for the bathroom on the top floor, the plumbing and electric are all rolling along as well.  It is still hard to put into words all the great things that are going on—plus the people involved in bringing it to fruition. You will see when it is done.

I have a feeling that is the first time that you have ever been that high on a ladder. You should have them leave it up....you never know when you may have to make a quick escape....or I may have to make a surprise entrance.

Looking good you rascals

It didn't do as much damage as you thought because, according to Oxford Uni, that's just a myth.

Oh, those vines are really surfacing the house! I wonder if the water drainages on the roof are being affected by those. Hmm, it's a good thing that they have decided to cut those! Doing such things require great focus for they might fall! Take care, guys! :D
