Life happens

The lone shower left in the house is about to go bye-bye

Moving right along…
Liz and I realize that we have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to live (if that's what you call it) in our house while the walls come down around us. We now welcome visitors by handing them face masks. The dust is omnipresent, but it could be a lot worse. There's a huge machine that sucks out most of the dust but not all of it. A small price to pay for remaining at home.
I asked Tom what we could do to help expedite the process. He suggested that if they could work on the second floor bathroom it would be beneficial, but that he didn't want to leave us without a shower. We have friends and family close by, so we could run over to their place. And Liz (not Chris) starts her day at the gym—hence, no problem. He told us that he could place a portable toilet on the third floor. We agreed to that arrangement.
I called Tom 15 minutes later from my cell phone and asked if could perhaps hold off a day or two from the agreed-upon date to install the portable toilet. I told him I was having a colonoscopy that day (shame on me—I have put it off for four years). Tom relinquished with an "Oh, yeah—better wait a day or two."
Life is what happens when you are busy making plans.

I have put that quote on my blog more than once. It's strangely comforting.
I would say living without a shower contitutes roughing it and we have high standards for that being that we were without a working kitchen for over a year.
Welcome to Houseblogs. I can't imagine being filmed throughout the process. How does one stay cheery throughout? But maybe you don't have to-that's more realistic. I am sure with TOH working on your house, the results will be well worth the trouble though!
